A meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate the effects of body condition score (BCS) or flushing on the fertility and prolificacy of adult ewes in anoestrous or breeding season. Inclusion criteria for the publications were comparison of two groups of different BCS (<2.5 and >/=2.5) and comparison of one group receiving flushing during 3-6 weeks and other maintaining the initial status. Fifteen papers were selected and 5484 data from 16 different breeds analysed. Eight meta-analyses were done (2 seasons x 2 nutrition effects x 2 reproductive parameters). Both nutritional strategies had an overall significant effect on fertility during anoestrous and on prolificacy during breeding season.
