Food Research Institute (FRI) summary of final report on NARP
The Food Research Institute's vision is to be recognised nationally and internationally as an S and T institution that is playing a key role in the transformation of the food processing industry to be internationally competitive with particular reference to product safety, quality and presentation. Over the past thirty-four years of its establishment, the FRI has been carrying out a co-ordinated programme of applied research in the storage, processing, preservation, marketing and distribution of foods with the aim of contributing towards the development and improvement of Ghana's food industries and increasing agricultural productivity. The Research and Development (R andD) activities of the FRI are geared towards providing adequate support to agricultural development projects in the country and reduction of post-harvest losses through improved rural technologies. Priority research programmes are tackled on a multi-disciplinary and multidimensional approach covering various areas and commodities including storage, processing, preservation, marketing and utilisation of cereals, roots and tubers, fruits and vegetables, grain legumes, fish and meat and dairy products.
