Seed is an important genetic resource. Golestan province with the superior geographic position and climatic diversity, have a rich flora. In order to seed collecting, this project was carried out throughout the Golestan province during 2001-2006., at first stage the province, was divided to four parts and then coding same locals based on geographical positions. During this design was collected medicinal plant seed with the purpose maintain genetic resources of these plants in Golestan province and Gene Bank Development. After collecting the seed plants in the field, data was recorded in the particular form including of collecting local, genus and species name, family, geographical point and some their uses. In this project were collected 498 seed samples of medicinal plant including of: 40 families, 98 genera and 107 species from different locals of Golestan province. Three families of 40 include Compositeae , Labiateae and Umbeliferae have higher percent of samples with 17.85,13.86 and 9.03 respectively. Among collected plants we observed Rumex acetoza (41), Salvia limbata (20) and Achilea micrantha (19) have the highest sample from difference locals of Province. Most of samples were collected from nature and nonagricultural lands in mountain areas at 800-1800 m from sea level. These samples were sent to the gene bank of Research Institute of Forest and Rangelands of Iran (RIFR) for keeping and maintaining each year. Distribution of Plants species which Collected during the design based on geographical points was determined on the Golestan province map.
