Dimension, wood volume, and simple dismantling method by used wood pallet

Dimension and volume of used wood pallets were examined, which were discarded by Utsunomiya City Central Wholesale Market for vegetables and fruits, Tochigi, Japan, in order to evaluate the possible utilization for used wood pallet as recycled wood resources. In addition, dismantling method for used wood pallet was also examined. Usage span of wood pallet examined was very short because most of pallet was one-way use. Dimension of used wood pallet had different dimension from that regulated by Japan Industrial Standard. Wood volume of single used wood pallet was about 0.03cubic m. When used wood pallet is processed for recycling small factory without expensive and huge equipments, used wood pallet should be divided into deckbords and stringer by handheld tools, such as circular saw.
