Two methods for producing biomass of Haematococcus pluvialis with enhanced astaxantin content have been tested. The first one is based on microalgae transfer on a medium depleted of nitrogen and phosphorus; the second - on the creation of saline stress. It was found that the maintenance of the culture of Haematococcus pluvialis Flotow CNM-AV-)-05 under stress conditions leds to an acceleration of astaxantin accumulation in biomass. The maximal quantity of astaxantin was registered after 96 hours following stress induction, in the 168 hours old culture, as well as after 72 hours in the 240 hours old culture, irrespective of stress type. The elaborated methods ensure the obtention of Haematococcus pluvialis biomass with a high content of astaxantin (42-46 percent more in comparison with standard conditions).
