Estrus synchronization and fertility rate in Tapri goats
2008
Sahito, R.G.A.
The present study was conducted to compare the effects of reproductive hormones, (Progesterone and PGF2 alpha) on induction of estrus and conception rate/ fertility rate in 15 tapri goats, divided into three groups. Group-1 was given normal saline 2.5ml (control), in Group-2 Progesterone 1ml I/M in Group-3 was given (PGF2 alpha) 1ml I/M. The induction of estrus and related signs, number of service per conception and fertility/ conception rate were recorded in all the groups. Occurrence of the estrus was found to be 40%, 80% and 100% in groups 1, 2 and 3 respectively. Corresponding values for services per conception were 1.41 plus minus 0.35, 1.38 plus minus 1.14 and 1.27 plus minus 0.06 in group 1, 2 and 3 respectively. The first service conception rate was recorded as 20%, 60% and 80% in Group-1, Group-2 and Group-3 respectively. The fertility rate of the groups was recorded to be 20%, 60% and 80% in groups 1, 2 and 3 respectively.
