Performance of newly evolved wheat genotypes in local conditions

The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design with four replications in the open field. Fifteen important characters of wheat viz. first flag leaf length, lust flag leaf width, second flag leaf length, second flag leaf width, plant height, first internode length, spike length, number of spikelets per spike, number of brains per spike, grain weight per spike, days, to heading, days to maturity, number of tillers ill a square meter, grain yield of square meter and seed index (1000-grain weight) were studied. The experimental material included 18 newly developed strains, one newly released variety Sehar-2006 (national check) and a popular commercial variety Sarsabz. The data were subjected to analysis of variance; mean values were compared using Duncan's multiple range test, correlation coefficients and heritability percentages were worked out.
