Population of sucking insect pests and coccinellid predators on radish

The present experiment was conducted to monitor the sucking insect pest and Coccinellid predators during spring season, the results have shown that sucking insect pest i.e. whitefly, aphid and thrips were present in radish. The maximum attack of aphid was 34.9 plus minus 7.58/plant followed by thrips 0.04 plus minus 0.06/plant and whitefly 0.3 plus minus 0.04/plant. Similarly among predators the Zigzag beetle 0.74 plus minus 0.16/plant, 13-spotted beetle 0.17 plus minus 0.12/ plant, 11 spotted beetle 0.3 plus minus 0.05/plant and 7 spotted beetle 0.2 plus minus 0.04 respectively. It may be concluded that aphid was the major pest of radish in Tandojam, Sindh. Thrip, whitefly and jassid followed it. The natural predators activity also occurred on radish in presence of sucking insect pests. The population of Coccinellid predators was sufficient to minimize the population of sucking insect pests. Predators population increases for keeping in balan ce the sucking insect pest activity in radish crop.
