Flood disaster, which had place in Odra basin in July 1997, confirmed that the most important purpose of realization of Raciborz reservoir is flood protection in the valley. Conception that uses suitable localization of designed reservoir, possibility to achieve a big flood wave reduction effect and connecting the realization and exploitation with gravel excavation met with approval
