The aim of this conducted study was an estimation of the yielding level and protein content in ten Polish and two foreign cultivars of red clover. In the first year the highest total yield of dry matter was obtained for the Rozeta cultivar -15.6 t/ha. The lowest dry matter yield was observed for both Merviot and Krynia cultivars -13.8 t/ha. During the second year of full utilization the highest yield was collected with Nike cultivar -15.1 t/ha and the lowest yield with Merviot cultivar -12.0 t/ha. The protein content of red clover was affected by the year of utilization and the cultivars. The highest amount of this component in the sowing year ranged from 130 h/kg for Tempus to 144 g/kg for Diana cultivar
