The selenium content in selected soil types of Pomorze and Kujawy Region [Poland] in relation to peroxidases activity

The aim of this research was to determine the total selenium content and peroxidases activity in mineral and organic soils of Pomorze and Kujawy region (Poland). Total selenium content was determined using the method of Watkinson and peroxidases activity according to Zwiagincew method. Total Se content in mineral soils was in the range of 0.035 - 0.332 mg/kg, (mean 0.138 mg/kg)) and was significantly positively correlated with C content. In Histosols, total Se content was 0.143 - 0.846 mg/kg and was highly correlated with C and peroxidases activity
