In the present study an attempt to assess sorption properties and content of exchangeable cations in soils of various texture has been done. The main objective was to assay the effect of bipartation of particle size distribution in profiles on sorption properties of arable soils. The contents of exchangeable cations were in the order: Ca2+ greater Ng2+ greater K+ greater Na+. The highest concentration of Ca2+ cations was observed in the C, Bt horizons, while the Et ones were identified as poor in that cation. Correlation was found between concentration of calcium cations and amounts of clay fraction
