Preliminary studies on effect of soil texture on Scots pine stand quality class in South-Western Poland

The aim of the work was to evaluate the effect of soil texture on Scots pine stand quality class in South-West Poland. The studies based on 349 soil profiles. It was pointed out that Scots pine stand quality class is positively correlated with the fine fraction (0 lower than 0.02 mm) content, but only in sandy soils. The species should not be planted of fresh soils that contain more than 10-15 percent of the fine fraction
