Resistance of plant pathogenic fungi appears due to intensive fungicide use. This is one of the major problems in plant protection which directly influences economic outcome of sugar beet production. Outline of resistance of Cercospora beticola, which causes sugar beet leaf spot, to fungicides used for its control is given in this paper. Besides, strategies and protection measures against resistance in plant pathogens are suggested, which should be followed in order to maintain high efficiency in crop protection.
