During 2007 and 2009, in a field trial set up on a farm certified for organic production in Kisac (Serbia), we studied the effect of the application of two different organic fertilizers on yield, chemical composition and dynamics of nutrient uptake in organic production of lettuce (Lactuca sativa sub. sp. sekalina). Treatments in field trial were: well rotten farmyard manure, guano and treatment without fertlization. The total yield of lettuce obtained with the farmyard manure and guano treatments was significantly higher than yield on control treatment, while the differences between fertilizer treatments were not significant, in both years of research. Applied organic fertilizers did not have influence on the content of P and K in the lettuce dry weight, while the total N content in some of the terms of measuring, was significantly higher on fertilized treatments than on the control treatment. Uptake amounts of N, P and K on fertilized treatments were significantly higher compared with the control treatment.
