The influence of keeping period on seed lives capableness of two kinds of plantain was researched. Ribwort-plantain (Plantago lanceolata L.) and great plantain (Plantago major L.) were tested. Researches were conducted in the Laboratory of the Institute for Medicinal Plants Research Dr Josif Pancic from Belgrade (Serbia). The seed produced during 2003 (fresh seed) was examined, and it was examined again every next year, so the last examination occurred 2008 (when the seed was five-years old). The best gemination had the fresh seed (over 90%), then one-year old seed (approximately 90%), and then germination drastically decreased, so two-year old seed had in germination 76%, the three-year old seed had 56%, the four-year old seed had 27%, and the five-year old seed had under 20%.
