Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present, but not in the way of the opportunities of future generations that they meet their own needs. The realization of sustainable development in veterinary medicine in each country must be linked and must follow guidelines of the national strategy of sustainable development, and must have built bases of global strategy, and it is balanced, planned and rational production and consumption that meets the social and economic needs and needs of environment. Activities of veterinary medicine are recognized in all priority points given in the National Strategy for Sustainable Development of the Republic of Serbia, which clearly shows how significant are the importance and role of veterinary medicine in the implementation of sustainable development strategy.
