The scope of this investigation was to determine the possible reduction of number of microorganisms in hatcheries and on surfaces after disinfection and to assess the effects of disinfection with Peral-S. The product known as Peral-S is peracetetic acid that disintegrates to acetic acid and free oxygen, while acetic acid and hydrogene peroxyde will form again preacetic acid that inhibits catalase and peroxydase activity. In conclusions: Peral-S used in concentration of 0.25% and during the exposition time of 15 minutes showed complete bactericidal and fungicidal effects like formaldehyde in hatcheries; It can be recommended to use Peral-S for the disinfection of surfaces in hatcheries instead of formaldehyde because of its safety aspects and public health and environmental concept.
