The basic engine characteristics are power, torque, hourly fuel consumption and specific fuel consumption. The parameters are in function of crankshaft revolution. Recognition of this parameters is very important for design as well as exploitation how engine will be used optimally by proper selection and conformation to customer characteristics. The international standards for testing of engine power at flyweel and power take-off shaft were presented in this paper.
