This research is a review of the main urban and sociological principles of the Garden City Concept that was regarded as a consequence of the Industrial Revolution and a solution to the problems that first arose, and then escalated during the 19th century in Western Civilization Cities. Garden City Concept can be traced back to 1898 and its appearance in the book: To-Morrow: a Peaceful Path to a Real Reform, and in its second edition Garden Cities of to-Morrow, 1902, both by Ebenezer Howard (1850-1928). This monograph also illustrates first application of this concept in Great Britain - First Garden City Letchworth, 1903, which is still barely known in our milieu. An important part of this book is dedicated to the analysis of the theoretical studies and the first appearance of the theme of Garden City Concept in Belgrade, in the beginning of the 20th century. When the physical realizations are in question, the focus of this research is on the period between two World Wars. One of the basic thesis of this work considers the modes of the application of Howard ideas here and, especially, the analysis of genesis, construction, creators, spirit and inhabitants of Professors Dwelling Quarters/Professors Colony in Belgrade, which are treated in separated chapter. The final remarks of this book are focused on modernization flows in Belgrade urban discourse between two World Wars, and also comparative analysis of both the differences and similarities between the original Garden City Concept and its specific applications in relation to Belgrade social conditions of the period.
