Influence of dietary therapy with use sunflower and amaranth oils on parameters of immune reactivity in patients with diabetes mellitus 2 type

There were observed 82 patients aged 35-75 years suffering type 2 middle severity pancreatic diabetes having arterial hypertension and fatty degeneration. While being in hospital (2-3 weeks), all the patients received antiatherogenic diet with lower caloric value and the traditional medicated treatment. In 3 subgroups of the main group the patients received either unrefined sunflower oil, or unrefined amaranth oil, or their mixture in an equal ratio. The oil was taken in an amount of 10 ml in the morning on an empty stomach for 14 days. Sunflower oil contained 57% of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), amaranth oil – 50% of PUFA and 300 gram svalen. Immunological study of patient blood was undertaken: determining different subpopulations of T-, B- and O-lymphocytes, the level of circulating immune complexes, quantification of class A, M, G serous immunoglobulins, calculating the phagocytic index. In the patients received sunflower oil the concentrations of immunoglobulins G and A greatly reduced. In the patients received amaranth oil the phagocytic index and the concentration of immunoglobulin A changed. In the patients received a mixture of sunflower and amaranth oils the content of T- and B-lymphocytes, phagocytic indices and level of immunoglobulin A increased. The traditional medicated therapy did not have any essential influence on the immunity indices of the patients. It was concluded that it is preferred to prescribe a mixture of sunflower and amaranth oils to improve the immunity in the patients with pancreatic diabetes in combination with arterial hypertension
