The examination to determine meat breeding value was started due to the interest of The Federation of Hungarian Simmental Breeders. Every year 12-15 young bulls of 6-12 sires were fattened from the age of 120 days to slaughtering. During the fattening period the feeding of animals was based on ad libitum corn silage and concentrate on the ratio of 1 kg concentrate/100 kg live weight. At the end of fattening the slaughtering was done at the slaughter house of Kóborhús Sc. The data of slaughter and carcass weights and boning out results were collected. They were classified according to the SEUROP grading system. The database is examined by SPSS 9.0 and Harvey's (1990) Least Square Maximum Likelihood Computer Program. In the project the data of 352 slaughtered young bulls has already been calculated. Mean daily gain (referred on the age of slaughter) and daily gain under the fattening period are found to be 1180 g/day and 1250 g/day, respectively. The overall mean value of dressing percentage is 59.11 %, the EUROP quality is R+ and fat score is 2.56. According to these findings, the results of gain, dressing percentage and EUROP quality were significantly influenced by sire.
