The dynamically changing land cover configuration and its impact on biodiversity have aroused interest in analysis of land-cover fragmentation and its consequences. In the contribution we present two different methodical procedures of forest fragmentation assessment using the CORINE Land Cover data layers. The first approach is based on the methodology presented by Riitters et al. (2002). Forest pixels were classified according to two fragmentation indices: forest proportion and forest connectivity. In the second approach we used the Landscape Fragmentation Tool - LFT developed by Parent and Hurd (2008). In both analyses, we identified four fragmentation components: Core, Patch, Perforated and Edge.
