Seven domestic species of wood - pine (heartwood and sapwood), spruce, oak, alder, beech, horn beam and maple (their heartwood) have been tested for natural durability in ground contact under natural conditions by STN EN 252. Tests with the specimen s of 25 x 50 x 500 mm were carried out on the test-field in Arborétum Borová Hora in Zvolen from 02105/2008 to 02/11/2008. Decay process in diferent parts of specimens was evaluated on the basis of changes of ultrasound waves velocity and dynamic modulus of elasticity and also by visual and microscopic analyses after 6-months exposition.
