English. Effective decision support tools are of great importance for irrigation water management. In agriculture as in the other sectors decision support tools which depend on remote sensing have become very important with the development of technology. In this study, a sugar beet field experiment was established during 2004 and 2005 growing season under heavy soil conditions in Ankara. Crops were monitored with instruments such as infrared thermometer and spectroradiometer and with plant sampling and some indices were determined. Consequently, Crop Water Stress Index (CWSI) depending on canopy temperature and YSP based on leaf water content are very sensitive to water stress and other indices such as Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and Soil Adjusted Vegetation Index (SAVI), calculated with spectral data are very sensitive to vegetation level. There appeared to be significant relationships between the physiological parameters determined in this study and the parameters based on remotely sensed data calculation.

Gelişen teknoloji ile birçok sektörde olduğu gibi sulama suyu yönetiminde de uzaktan algılama tekniklerine dayalı karar destek araçları giderek önem kazanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, yedi farklı sulama konusundan oluşan şeker pancarı denemesi Ankara koşullarında ağır bünyeli toprakta, 2004 ve 2005 yıllarında yürütülmüştür. Bitkiler infrared termometre ve spektroradyometre araçları başta olmak üzere çeşitli cihazlarla ve örnekleme yolu ile izlenmiş çeşitli göstergeler elde edilmiştir. Çalışma sonuçlarına göre yüzey sıcaklığına dayalı Bitki Su Stres İndeksi (CWSI) ve yaprak suyuna bağlı YSP su stresine, spektral indekslerden Normalize Edilmiş Vejetatif Değişim İndeksi (NDVI) ve Toprak Yansımalarını Dikkate Alan Vejetasyon İndeksi (SAVI) ise vejetasyon düzeyine oldukça duyarlıdır. Genel olarak incelenen fizyolojik parametreler ile uzaktan algılanmış verilerle hesaplanan indekslerin istatiksel ilişkileri önemli bulunmuştur.
