The agro-technical scheme of growing has a great influence on the development of oriental tobacco during the whole vegetative period. The major objective of this study is to establish the influence of the major agro-technical factors distances of planting and rates of mineral fertilizing upon the biological and economic characteristics of the new varieties of oriental tobacco - Krumovgrad 17 and Krumovgrad 944. In the 2006 -2008 period two complex experiments have been carried out, comprising three planting densities and three rates of mineral fertilization with combined fertiliser NPK 15-15-15. The results of the performed research are: The distances of planting and the rates of mineral fertilisation have effect on the growth and the development of the plants during the whole vegetation period. The bigger inter-row distances and the higher rates of mineral fertilization are in straight correlation to the more accelerated rate of growth and leaf-formation, as well as the bigger size and density of the formed leaves. The average yield per hectare increases with the increase of the number of planted plants in all three rates of mineral fertilization. The higher rates of mineral fertilization increase the productivity of the plants, but worsen the quality of the obtained raw material. The highest total yield per hectare is obtained in the denser planted and fertilized variants.
