Usage of rapeseed oil and protein for nutrition purpose pose high requirements to seed quality. High quality rapeseed possess high oil content, low free fatty acids level, good oil colour, no chemical residues and freedom from insect pests, moulds and mycotoxins. The good practices during crop growth, harvesting and storage are means to produce premium quality seeds. Rapeseed by chemical composition, physical and aerial-dynamical characteristics significantly differ from cereals like object of handling and storage. It is significantly more difficult to store successfully than cereals because of high oil content, less hydrophilic substances content, related to sorption properties of seeds. The factors influencing seeds storability are its maturity, storage moisture and temperature levels, content of dockage, initial molds quantity and composition and its activity, initial quality of freshly harvested rapeseed and duration of storage. Postharvest handling and storage of rapeseed require specific technical and technological solutions, different from applied in case of cereals. Rapeseed save storage ensures by usage of conditioning systems for seeds cleaning, cooling, natural-air drying, heated-air drying or a combination of these.
