Time of parturition in Toggenburg and Anglonubian goats | Часово разпределение на ражданията при кози от Тогенбургската и Англо-нубийската породи

Hourly distribution of kidding was investigated in Toghenburg and Anglonubian goats monitored round the clock during the kidding time. Hourly frequencies of spontaneous births in the two studied breed showed a unimodal distribution with maximum number of kidding during daylight hours and minimum kidding between 20:00 and 06:00 hours. In Toggenburg goats 84.6 % of parturitions occurred between 06:00 and 18:00 hours and no births were recorded between 22:00 and 04:00 hours. Anglo Nubian goats exhibited similar pattern of birth distribution. The peak of deliveries was recorded between 12:00 and 14:00 hours in Toggenburg - 20 % of the total, and between 14:00 and 16:00 hours in Anglonubian goats - 19.1 % of the total births. Type of birth seems to have no effect on birth distribution. The results suggest that temporal distribution of births in goats corresponds to circadian rhythm and may favor kid survival.
