A special research connected with the influence of potassium content in perennial grasses on animals' health is carried out. Mineral composition of the grass - awnless brome (Bromus inermis) on sod-podzol sabulous soil is analyzed. Dependence of soil K2O on chemical analysis is evaluated. Biochemical composition of cocksfoot (Dactylus glomerata) on peat soils is estimated. Influence of the fertilizers on potassium content in perennial grasses is accounted. On the basis of experimental research and the literature data analysis it is established that permanent grasses that grow on the soils with high level of exchangeable potassium accumulate up to 4-5% of K2O in dry matter. Specialists believe that the acceptable levels of potassium contained in animal's food are considerably exceeded. Another point of view considered the close relation between water application rate in the livestock waste and the potassium accumulation in plants. In order to make the quality of the food better it is suggested to stop using potassium fertilizers application under the first-year grasses which grow on sabulous soils with the level of exchangeable potassium more than 200 mg/kg.
