The influence of maize harvesting terms on productivity and quality of silage mass | Влияние сроков уборки кукурузы на урожайность и качество силосной массы

In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there were determined the optimal harvesting terms maize (Zea mays) hybrids grown for silage in the conditions of the north-eastern part of the Republic of Belarus. There was determined the influence of terms on the formation of productivity and qualitative indicators of silage mass. Research results showed that in course of determination of the optimal terms it was necessary to take into account the dynamics of accumulation of all indexes which determine the level of nutritive value of fodder (dry matter content; earcorn rate; ratio of leafy mass and earcorns at different development phases). The mentioned above elements were stated at rather high level at the stages of milky ripeness and milky-wax ripeness. Ensilaging of green mass of maize at later harvesting terms after ground frost (when the content of dry matter exceeded 50-60% and humidity 40-50% and with the absence of free sugars) could not provide standard course of microbiological processes and production of high quality silage.
