Improvement of conception rate in crossbred cattle by using GnRH analogue therapy

The study was carried out to evaluate the effect of Dalmarelin (Lecirelin acetate, GnRH analogue) administration at the time of AI on conception rate in repeat breeding crossbred cattle. Sixty-four cows were included in the study. Their age ranged from 44 to 232 months and their lactation number varied from 1 to 13. The animals were divided into control (32 cows) and treatment (32 cows) groups. The cows in the treatment group received Dalmarelin therapy at the time of AI. The cows were examined after 60 days post insemination per rectum. The conception rate was 37.5% in controls and 68.75% in treatment animals (P less than 0.0242/x2: 5.082). The data regarding postpartum interval, estrus duration and estrus behaviour was collected and analyzed, which was non-significant. Our study revealed that using GnRH analogue therapy at the time of AI improved the conception rate in repeat breeding crossbred cows.
