First report on Monilinia fructicola in the Slovak Republic

In the period of 2005-2008, the presence of Monilinia species was recorded on 162 samples of stone and pome fruit trees in 67 Slovak localities. Most samples were infected either by Monilinia laxa or by M. fructigena. Four samples of stone fruits were infected by the American species M. fructicola. M. fructicola was identified on three samples of imported fruits (peach and nectarine) and on one domestic plum. To our knowledge, this is the first report on M. fructicola in Slovakia.
