In order to determine the effects of seed sack material and storage period on cotton seed quality(c.v Sahel) an experiment carried out in cotton seed center storage in Gorgan county(North of Iran which has wet climate). Experiment was arranged as factorial on the basis of compeletly randomized design with 4 replications. Factors including sack materials gunny, cloth, polypropylene with un-attached inner paper layer, laminate polypropylene (attached inner paper layer) in 4 levels and storage periods (0-18 month(s)-bi-monthly) in 10 levels were considered. Seeds were sampled randomizedly and bi-monthly from each sack material and some quality and quantity parameters and infected seeds% to storage fungi Aspergillus spp. and Penicillium spp. were evaluated (ISTA, 1996). Results of variance analysis and means comparison indicated that test factors had significant effects(P0.01)on test parameters(except to epicotyle length). During 18-month storage period the average of moisture content and mold fungi infection had increased 2.7, 6.5% respectively, and germination decreased 10.5%. Also, germination percentage and rate had decreased in 4 seed sack materials including laminate polypropylene (%6.7, 3.78), gunny (%12.1,12.04), single polypropylene (%7.5,7.83) and cloth (%9.8, 11.25), respectively.
