The article presents a comparative analysis of the cities of Rīga, Amsterdam and Copenhagen, illustrating the role of advanced network of arterial streets in the development of a contemporary and sustainable city. In the context of this comparison, the role of the Rīga Northern Transport Corridor is distinguished, as the initial research shows remarkable results in facilitation of the economic development and environmental quality in Rīga and the metropolitan region. In general, such a result is achieved by simple means, solving the mobility problems caused by the hierarchically disorganized and fragmented street network.

Īpaši izcelta Rīgas Ziemeļu transporta koridora nozīme Rīgas pilsētas un apkārtējā reģiona attīstības veicināšanā un vides stāvokļa uzlabošanā, jo tas atrisina mobilitātes problēmas, kas izriet no hierarhiski nesakārtotā un fragmentētā ielu tīkla.
