Energy is a significant national concern to Malaysia as outlined in the Eighth Malaysia Plan. In the plan, the country's fuel policy was revised to include Energy Efficiency (EE) and Renewable Energy (RE). The shift to energy conservation mode by the Malaysian government is to ensure a steady flow of energy resources ensuring sustainable economic performance and development of energy resources in the country in the coming years. The general public was thought to be a significant factor to influence the success of the policy. The public must be sensitized and educated on the issue of energy and its impact on the economy and environment. They must be made aware of, and persuaded to modify their practices toward domestic energy use. This paper reports the Energy Efficiency at Home campaign implemented to raise awareness on EE issues among the Malaysian public. The first part of the paper outlines findings of a KAP Survey on the Malaysian Public in relation to EE. Following this, an action plan that drove the Energy Efficiency at Home campaign in the Star is discussed and finally the paper presents findings on the impact of this campaign. By way of conclusion, the paper highlights some of the major challenges confronting the Malaysian agenda on EE.
