Fattening of goat kids with different levels of crude protein
2009
Pirzado, S.A
Equally weighing 12 male kids with approximate age of 4-6 months were reared for a period of 90 days. The kids were designated groups A, B, C and D fed rations with CP contents of 12, 14, 16 and 18%, respectively. The kids fed on ration with 16% CP consumed significantly minimum feed (177.19 kg/animal), closely followed by the kids in group D, where the animal were reared on ration containing 18% CP, consuming 177.35 kg/animal feed in 90 days. The goat kids fed on ration-A containing 12% CP consumed significantly maximum feed of 183.32 kg/animal, closely followed by the kids in group B, fed on ration containing 14% CP with average feed consumption of 181.42 kg/animal in 90 days. An inverse trend was noted and with increasing CP level in ration, the feed consumption of kids decreased.
