Influence of different fertility regimes on the growth and yield of canola
2009
Asghar, M.
The experiment was conducted in a three replicated randomized complete block design, keeping net sub-plot size of 5m x 2.7m (13.5 m2). Treatments included seven N-P-K combinations levels such as: T1 = 60-0-0, T2 = 60-30-0, T3 = 60-30-50, T4 = 90-30-75, T5 = 90-60-75, T6 = 120-60-75 and T7 = 120-60-100 N-P-K kg per ha. All P and K along with half of N was applied at the time of sowing, and remaining N was divided into two equal splits and applied as per plan followed by immediate irrigation. Canola variety "Rainbow" was investigated. The results showed that almost all the growth and seed yield components as well as oil content of canola was significantly affected by different fertility regimes. The highest N-P-K level of 120-60-100 kg per ha took 81.33 days to flowering, 117.33 days to maturity, 157.33 cm plant height, 660 pods per plant, 14.66 seeds per pod, 0.058 g seed weight per pod, 3.43 g seed index value, 2477.33 kg seed yield per hectare and 41.64% oil content.
