Efficacy of bio-pesticides against Thrips tabaci Lind. on garlic crop

In order to investigate the efficacy of various Bio-pesticides (Neem oil, Neem powder, Neem oil + Beneficial micro-organisms and Tobacco extract) against Thrips tabaci Lind. on garlic crop, the study was carried out. All the bio-pesticides were sprayed two times when the pest was at threshold level and reduction in thrips infestation was recorded after 24, 48, 72 hours and one week after 1st and 2nd sprays. A significant (P less than 0.01) variation in the efficacy of different bio-pesticides against thrips was noted and effect of observation intervals was also significant (P less than 0.01) after first spray. The neem powder proved to be more effective against thrips with 56.50 percent reduction in pest infestation, while Neem oil + beneficial micro-organisms (B.M) reduced 52.81 percent thrips on average. The Neem oil caused 41.00 percent thrips reduction and tobacco extract reduced thrips infestation up to 39.00 percent.
