Agro-physiology response of two canola cultivars to different planting patterns

The present study was under taken to see the effect of different planting patterns on growth, seed yield, oil contents and protein percentage of two canola cultivars (Brassica napus L.). The research studies were conducted using RCBD with split plot arrangement in three replications. Plot size was 4 rows x 5m, (variable plot size) with different row spacing (30, 45, 60 and 75 cm) were kept in the sub plots and canola cultivars (Hyola-401 and Rainbow) were kept in main plots. All the other agronomic practices were kept normal and uniform. Results shows that numbers of plants m-2, biological yield, seed yield, harvest index and seed oil contents were significantly affected by the row spacing Maximum number of plants m-2 (21.65) was obtained at 30 cm row spacing. Highest biological and seed yield (18631.11 kg per ha, 3423.61 kg per ha) was obtained at 30 cm apart row spacing.
