The relation between the concentration of thyroxine and the air temperature together with the length of daylight was proved. For most animals, the breeding season started on the turn of September and October and ended in March. Between two applied thyreostatic preparation, propylthiouracil proved to be efficient in inducing hypothyroids, however, it was not ascertained that lowering in the growing concentration of thyroxine in the circulating blood at the end of the breeding season had any impact on the time when the anoestrus started in goats. The results suggest the existence of species differences in the mechanisms which control the end of the breeding season in short-day animals
