Now, when the era of cheap oil for sure has gone, natural gas, with its resources, economical, ecological and safety advantages, is the fuel, which is the most useful, the cleanest and the safest among all available internal combustion engine fuels. The idea of using natural gas as a fuel in internal combustion engines is not new. In the year 1915 the first natural gas application in motor vehicles was recorded [1]. Many countries in the world have already adopted national programmes for conversion of conventional motor vehicles into vehicles using natural gas as a fuel (converted vehicles). Application of natural gas in bi-fuel vehicles is in very beginning in Serbia. Natural gas equipment built into a vehicle additionally complicate its exploitation and maintenance. To provide efficient operation of a vehicle with a natural gas equipment built-in, during the whole period of exploitation, it is necessary to be familiar with exploitation and maintenance specifities of such vehicle. There are few texts in literature dealing with exploitation and maintenance of this kind of vehicles. Authors will try to give a review of basic procedures, which should be undertaken in course of exploitation and maintenance of converted vehicles in the scope of the paper.

Danas, kad se sigurno može reći da je završena epoha jeftine nafte, prirodni gas sa svojim resursnim, ekonomskim, ekološkim i bezbednosnim prednostima je najčistije i najsigurnije dostupno gorivo za motore SUS. Ideja njegovog korišćenja kao goriva za motore SUS nije nova. Daleke 1915. godine zabeležena je prva primena prirodnog gasa u motornim vozilima [1]. Mnoge zemlje sveta su već donele nacionalne programe za konverziju svojih transportnih sredstava na prirodni gas kao pogonsko gorivo. U Srbiji je njegova primena (u bi–fuel verziji) u samom začetku. Prisustvo uređaja za prirodni gas u vozilu dodatno usložnjava njegovu eksploataciju i održavanje. Da bi se obezbedio efikasan rad vozila tokom čitavog perioda njegove eksploatacije, potrebno je poznavanje osobenosti eksploatacije i održavanja vozila u koja je naknadno ugrađen uređaj za prirodni gas. U stručnoj literaturi vrlo je malo obrađivana ova problematika. U okviru ovoga rada autori će pokušati da daju prikaz osnovnih postupaka koje bi trebalo preduzimati u toku eksploatacije i održavanja konvertovanih vozila na prirodni gas.
