In this study we evaluated the parameters of Septoria tritici resistance in adult wheat plants under field conditions. The following parameters were used: PCD and SPC coefficients, loss in 1000-grain weight, and the possible percentage of pycnidial coverage. PCD/SPC and Saari-Prescott scales were used to assess the resistance of the tested genotypes. Evaluations were performed on 3,668 wheat genotypes (3579 winter and 89 spring genotypes) at the adult plant stage. Differences in the level of resistance to S. tritici were recorded. The Saari-Prescott scale was used to assess genotype resistance. A total of 823 (23%) winter and 49 (55.6%) spring genotypes were defined as fully resistant, while 24 (0.6%) winter genotypes were defined as a highly sensitive. No a single spring genotype was highly sensitive. The observations of the percentage of pycnidial leaf coverage indicated that 29 (20.7%) winter genotypes were resistant and 14 (10%) genotypes were sensitive. Lines NS 3-5909, NS 3-5891, NS 3-3775 were found to be most sensitive. Regarding the loss of 1000-grain weight, lines SSK-1986/87 No. 30 and Italia showed largest losses. Lines NS RZL 23 and NS 603 can be considered as tolerant to S. tritici because they produced high yields of quality grains (heavy and non-shriveled) under high infection. High correlations were found between the field resistance parameters in the winter and spring wheat genotypes. The obtained results indicate that it is possible to evaluate the resistance to Septoria tritici blotch or distinguish genotypes by disease reaction in field conditions.
