Perennial crop Miscanthus x giganteus utilizes nutrient supplies from its rhizomes for emergence, initial growth and development. In the firs year, the emergence and initial growth are not even, regardless of the uniformity and density of rhizome planting. In the second and the subsequent years, miscanthus emergence in the wider area of Belgrade (Serbia) usually takes place in the first decade of April. Average growth rate during the first 70 days from the emergence varies between 1.8 and 2.2 cm per day.
