The protected area in Serbia occupies 547, 723. 71 ha or 6% of the total area of the Republic. A great part of these natural resources consists of forests and forest sites, which affects the specificity of silvicultural treatments applied in the protected area. The tables present the main data on the areas, species, categories and degrees of protection of the protected area in which the share of forest ecosystems is significant. They are: national parks, nature parks and other protected areas, general and special reserves and protected areas of cultural and historical value.
