Prognosis of yield in red currant (Ribes rubrum L.) cultivars

Assessment and forecast of yield fruit berries, few months before full maturity, is an important factor for seasonable and successful organization of harvesting and planning of fruit marketing. In order to create the appropriate database and development of suitable methods for estimating the yield, in the collection orchard of red currant (at the site Mislodjin, in the wider region of Obrenovacs Posavina, situated between 44 deg 30 min and 44 deg 45 min north latitude and 20 deg 00 min and 20 deg 20 min east longitude, built in the 2006th), the basic parameters of generative potential (the number of clusters per bush, the number of berries per cluster, the yield per bush) for 10 varieties of red currant have been monitored during 2007 and 2008. The range of yield per bush of red currant cultivars varied from 0.6 kg (57.4 cluster per bushes and 11.7 berries in the cluster) in cultivar Rovanda, up to 2.6 kg (267.5 clusters per bushes and 19 berries per cluster) in cultivar Junifer. According to expectations, the results showed a clear functional relation of yield with these parameters. Using two-dimensional interpolation of the experimental data, the topographical map for estimating the yield according to the number of clusters per bush and the number of berries per cluster was made. Appropriate 3D (three-dimensional) illustration of functional dependence of yield, z = f(x, y), on the number of clusters per bush (x) and on the number of berries per cluster (y), as an argument in mathematical aspect, is shown.
