The malignant catharral fever (MCF) is an enzootic lymphoproliferative disease caused by herpesviruses that can occur sporadically in cattle and other domestic and wild ruminants. This work describes the ocular lesions in a cow with MCF in Sardinia. Most prominent MCF symptoms are hyperthermia, purulent nasal discharge, keratoconjunctivitis resulting in corneal opacity, epiphora, photophobia and lymphadenopathy. While MCF symptoms and pathological lesions of the affected organs are usually described with a wealth details, rather scarce are the informations on ocular lesions. This work is intended to give a detailed anatomical description of the of the ocular lesions and of the eye histopathology, with special attention to the damage of retrocorneal structure caused by MCF.
