The investigation was carried out on a national representative survey and involved 2582 children aged 2 to 24 months. More than 5% of children at birth had insufficient body weight and 9% - excessive. At the inquiry moment 70% of children aged 2-4 months received breast milk, 60% - aged 4-6 months, 46% - 6-9 months, 39% - 9-12 months and 16.9% - above 12 months. However, the prevalence of breast feeding was recognized as insufficient, as already since 4 months 26% of children started receiving milk and other non-adapted cultured milk products. All the surveyed children received with food sufficient quantity of proteins, fats and carbohydrates, however, their provision with vitamins and minerals depended on the nature of supplemental feeding products. In the children's rations at the age of 12-24 months a high content of mono- and disaccharides, fats, phosphor with an insufficient content of calcium was observed. More than 20% of children at this age did not receive a necessary quantity of meat and fish products, vegetables and fruit. At the same time, about 1/3 of children ages 12 months started receiving sausage products. As specialized supplemental feeding products, buckwheat, rice and oats gruels were used, an as non-specialized – semolina. In general, using specialized supplemental feeding industrially manufactured products in infant nutrition is recognized as insufficient. Mothers that had higher or incomplete higher education provided more balanced and energetically valuable feeding at the first living year than mothers without higher education.
