Experiments were conducted at Guneid Sugarcane Research Center Farm during seasons 2005/06, 2006/07 and 2007/08 for plant cane and ratoon crops to evaluate the efficacy and selectivity of Krismat 75 WG (1.85% trifloxysulfuron-sodium + 73.15% ametryn) on weed control in sugarcane. Krismat at 0.75 and 0.94 kg a.i./fed showed excellent control of grasses and broad-leaved weeds early in the season, with long persistent effects. Unrestricted weed growth reduced the number of millable stalks by more than 27 % for plant cane and ratoon crop, and reduced cane yield by more than 38 % and 36 % for plant cane and ratoon crop, respectively. The herbicides treatments significantly increased the number of millable stalks and cane yield compared to the unweeded control. Krismat at 0.75 and 0.94 kg a.i./fed resulted in comparable number of millable stalks and cane yield to those of the standard and the weeded control treatments
