Effect of waste product from citric acid plant in total mix ration in buffalo production

Experiment was conducted to determine the utilization of citric waste (CW) in total mix ration (TMR) for buffaloes. Sixteen male swamp buffaloes were equally and randomly allotted into 4 treatments and 4 replications according to the Completely Randomize Design Experiment. TMR diets were formulated to contain 14 percent crude protein and 2.6 Mcal/kg metabolizable energy according to the requirement of buffaloes. CW was added in TMR at 0, 10, 20 and 30 percent, respectively. TMR diet were fed amount provide before grazing. Weight gain and feed intake (FI) were recorded to determine average daily gain (ADG) and feed per gain (FCR). Digestion coefficient of diets were determine using acid insoluble ash marker. The results showed that FI (4.79 Kg/day), average daily gain (0.385 Kg/day) and feed per gain (12.89) were similar among treatments (P GT 0.05). Each levels of CW in TMR had no effect on final weight and digestibility of dry matter (P GT 0.05). The digestibility of organic matter, protein and NDF were higher in buffaloes fed 10 percent CW (P LT 0.05). The digestibility of ADF were lower in buffaloes fed 10 percent CW and 30 percent CW were higher than other group.
