Diversity of crop genetic resources in Son La hydroelectric and adjacent areas

The exploration and collection of crop germ plasm in Son La hydroelectric plant and adjacent areas was conducted during 2007-2009 by Plant Resources Center. Total 4423 crop germ plasms have collected from Son La, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Yen Bai, Lao Cai provinces and were taxonomy. 4406 crop germ plasms belong to 120 species and subspecies of 86 genus, 31 plant family; 17 germ plasms were not information for taxonomy. Fabaceae family 13 genus and 17 species, Curcubitaceae 10 genus and 15 species are two families with big quantity. Rice (Oryza sativa L.) 908 germ plasms and Maize (Zea mays) 305 germ plasms are two species have high diversity. The result showed that Northwest of Vietnam has high diversity of crop genetic resources, among them have many valuable germ plasms underutilized as Mồng tõi giả (Anredera cordifolia (Tenore) Steenis); Cẩm (Peristrophe baphica) (Spreng.)
